Opera Mini 4

We at IntoMobile love Opera Mini. And no, we’re not surprised to see other people loving it as well.

As of November 7, when Opera Software officially launched the final version of Opera Mini 4, more than one million people downloaded the free Java-based mobile browser. Congratulations to Opera Software. We wish you all the best, and yes keep improving your mobile browser — even though I’m not sure what else can you add on top the existing functionality… Full release follows after the jump.

PRESS RELEASE – Opera, the only company that puts the Web on any device, today revealed that Opera Mini 4, the newest version of the world’s most popular mobile Web browser, was downloaded more than one million times in the 10 days following its worldwide debut on November 7. Opera Mini is available completely free from http://www.operamini.com/. Overall, Opera Mini has already been embraced by more than 26 million cumulative users who view more than one billion Web pages every month.

“The people have spoken: Opera Mini is their mobile browser of choice,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera. “Everything we do comes down to listening to our users and giving them what they want. The tremendous reception for Opera Mini 4 is proof that consumers want the freedom to choose the same experience, the same Web, regardless of what device they use.”

According to Gartner, more than 50% of cellular subscribers in the U.S. and Western Europe will access the Web on a mobile device at least once a week by 2010. Opera Mini brings the full Web, your favorite Web sites and services, to almost every mobile phone today. Opera Mini also automatically reduces the size of the transferred pages, so Web sites load faster while reducing the cost of surfing.

“I already use Opera Mini as my primary Web browser, even on devices where I have many browsing options,” said Sumeet Kishnani, an Opera Mini user from New York City. “Opera Mini is more than just a Web browser – it can leverage the Web to become an RSS reader, email client, and more. I look forward to future versions of the browser that will allow me to use a sleeker device while adding more functionality.”
