Mobile TV is doing big things in France, if you believe the numbers being touted about.

As I posted before, Orange announced in Dec07 that they had 1m Moby TV subs. SFR claimed to have 350K. Well now, Canal Plus claims it has more than 250K!

The total from these stats apparently represents a 225% increase in subs compared to 2006.

Comment: France still isn’t live for DVB-H (well I say “still”, but compared to the UK, they are almost next-gen!), but there does seem to be somewhat of a mini-buzz as regards Mobile TV – perhaps they can smell the broadcast goodness coming some distance away! I’ve always found that streaming offered a “variable” experience at best, but if MNOs/Content Providers in France have cracked the key to desirable content, perhaps there is something we can all learn from!
