Who says that Canada lacks a competitive GSM market? Fido, Canada’s traditionally overshadowed GSM network, is joining Rogers in bringing the Apple iPhone 3G to our friends up North.
Following on Rogers’ previous announcement that they’ll be launching the iPhone 3G on July 11th, Fido has just thrown their hat in to the mix with their own announcement detailing plans to offer the iPhone 3G, come July 11.
Canada’s No. 4 wireless carrier says that the iPhone 3G will be offered with the standard $199 and $299 price-tags for the 8GB and 16GB variants of the iPhone 3G, respectively. Of course, as is par for the course in Canada, Fido subscribers will be required to sign a 3-year contract. Perhaps Fido will offer more competitive data pricing for the iPhone 3G.
What? We can’t hope?
