Following on “confirmed” reports that had the ballyhooed and highly-anticipated Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 Windows Mobile smartphone delayed until possibly January of next year, Sony Ericsson has come out with a statement pointing towards a Q4 2008 delivery window for the XPERIA X1.
The company is rebuffing any claims that the next-generation high-end flagship will be pushed back until 2009. The Windows Mobile-powered Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has been the talk of the town for too long, so it’s good to see Sony Ericsson essentially guaranteeing that we’ll be putting hands on the superphone before year’s end.
“There is absolutely no delay. The product is on track,” Sony Ericsson spokeswoman Merran Wrigley said. “We have said it will roll out in Q4 and we are on target to do that.”
HTC is responsible for the hardware behind the Swedish-Japanese joint venture’s latest flagship, which bodes well for Sony Ericsson’s fortunes. HTC turns anything they touch in to gold (Diamonds?) recently, and the XPERIA X1 should be no exception. Windows Mobile baubles aside, Sony Ericsson would do well to get their XPERIA X1 to market sooner rather than later. Attention spans in the mobile world are quite short.
