Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo trying to make a boomworthy announcement
Nokia World is on, and word has it there’s a giant announcement coming in a few short days regarding some big ol’ whizz-bang of a phone. Nokia’s been focusing on extra-cellular services lately, like Ovi, Comes with Music, and the new Home Control Center, but Apple and RIM have been taking some juicy chunks out of Nokia’s smartphone market share the last quarter – this announcement is likely to signal Nokia’s counterattack. There have been insinuations that Broadcom’s all-in-one Wi-Fi/GPS/Bluetooth uberchip may be a part of the new handset.
It wasn’t long ago that we were hearing about a touchscreen number from Nokia called Eitri with proper haptic feedback, a 640 x 350 display, 5 megapixel camera, FM transmitter in a slider formfactor, but Nokia execs have made it loud and clear that none of the blogs have been able to nail down what they’ve been working on. Well, now you’ve got us tickled curious – do your worst, you wily Finns, we’ll be listening on Wednesday. Keep an eye on that countdown…
