Verizon wants you, the customer, to learn everything you can about their mobile lineup so that you can make a more informed decision. As long as they control the information you’re reading.
Today, Verizon has taken the wraps off their new online “handset review” system that lets Verizon customers sound off on what they liked and didn’t like about a particular handset. The 5-star rating system allows users to rate a handset based on its display, ease of use, design, features and battery longevity. There’s also a place to list the pros and cons, as well as additional comments, for the cellphone in question. Users can find the handset ratings underneath each handset’s description, but as of the time of this writing, there are no reviews listed.
Unfortunately, Verizon Wireless stooges will be reviewing every “User Review” before letting it go live on the website. Not only does that delay the posting of any reviews, but it also means Verizon has the final say on what you do and don’t see on their website. You know what they say, for every big step forward, Verizon takes half-step backwards (okay, we just made that up, but it is fitting…).
