At the risk of sounding chauvinistic, it seems that the female gender’s penchant for conversation carries over to the bathroom as well. A new study finds that women are more likely to not just gossip to their girlfriends while touching up their lip gloss, women are actually more likely to use their cellphones while on the toilet. The iGR survey found that women are 8% more likely to make calls on their mobile phones while “doing the deed,” and 5% more likely to fire off a text message while on the throne.

iGR surveyed 1,000 US mobile phone users aged 18 to 65 during the month of April 2009. The study found that a healthy 42% of US consumers use their cellphones in the bathroom. These findings echo the informal results of IntoMobile’s own “Smartphone in bathroom” poll. And, it seems that mobile phones users between 18 and 24 years of age are the most likely to use their mobile phones in the bathroom or on the toilet – they’re 38% more likely to make phone calls and 66% more likely to tap out a text message.

So, let’s try this again. In the spirit of this latest study, we want our readers to chime in again. Are you a “toilet talker” or a “toilet texter?” Sound off in the poll below.
