Motorola’s CLIQ is going to make a big splash when it hits market later this year as the first Android smartphone from Motorola. We initially thought the CLIQ’s social-aggregating MOTOBLUR user interface was going to take center stage, but confirmation of pre-loaded apps has us rethinking that position. Thanks to Moto’s handy Motorola CLIQ preview page, we now know that the smartphone will launch with all sorts of cool pre-loaded apps.
We’re seeing apps like Telenav Navigator (GPS navigation), QuickOffice (Office document editing), Yahoo Mail (as well as Gmail), Mint (finance tracker), Digg (official Digg app!) and a host of “lifestyle” apps like Askmen, Gawker, and Rotten Tomatoes – just to name a few. Why Motorola chose to feature Yahoo Mail alongside Gmail is a mystery to us. Does anyone still use Yahoo mail?
The bad news is that the Motorola DEXT (the CLIQ’s European variant) page makes no reference to Telenav Navigation, Mint nor Digg.
At this point, it’s just a waiting game. Rumors have Motorola CLIQ pre-orders going live October 19th.
