Following on rumors that T-Mobile may be replacing its Sidekick offerings with the HTC myTouch Slide (codename: HTC Espresso), a couple impressively clear images of the myTouch Slide have come to light. What you see here is the HTC Espresso clearly sporting T-Mobile branding and bearing the “myTouch” logo. It’s not yet known how T-Mobile will position the myTouch Slide, or if it will end up replacing the Sidekick, but with its user-friendly Android roots and the slide-out QWERTY keyboard, it’s a good fit for the Sidekick segment.
The myTouch Slide shows an optical trackpad in place of the myTouch 3G’s trackball, a camera with LED flash, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a capacitive touchscreen and the 4-row QWERTY keyboard. There’s supposed to be a hefty 1300maH battery under the hood, powering an ARM11 processor. As for styling, the myTouch Slide might not live up to Sidekick fans’ more quirky tastes, but it’s definitely going to appeal to myTouch 3G fans that were left wanting a physical keyboard.
Word has the myTouch Slide hitting market on May 17th, or thereabouts. Expect the myTouch Slide in Black, Red, and White color variants at launch – just like the myTouch 3G.
