Siano Mobile Silicon has announced today that it is demonstrating Mobile Digital TV (MDTV) over both the iPhone and Android Smartphones at the Mobile World Congress Exhibition in Barcelona between the15th-18th February 2010.
“Users of both the iPhone and Android Smartphones are tech-savvy and demand a flawless user experience that combines both innovation and quality performance’’, said Ronen Jashek, VP Marketing at Siano. “Streaming video over 3G networks is problematic – more often than not it provides time-shifted, pre-recorded content at lower resolutions and frame rates – and also clogs up the networks for operators, depriving them of their #1 revenue source – voice. We’re excited to demonstrate how broadcast Mobile TV delivery can meet the high expectations of today’s Smartphone users – a win-win solution for all involved’’.
Siano argues that MDTV broadcast provides a higher quality television on-the-go experience for users and a solution that offloads data for Operators. They are showcasing numerous broadcast MDTV technologies over the iPhone via the T1000 WiFi accessory, CMMB reception on Motorola’s MT710 TD phone which is part of China Mobile’s line-up, and T-DMB reception over Motorola’s MOTOROI which is promoted by South Korea’s SKT. The latter is Korea’s first Android –powered Smartphone, capable of showing 720p HD video.
So if you’ve got some time tomorrow and you’re at MWC, you can check them out – failing that, head over to their website here.
