Video: Hands-On with Acer Liquid E, neoTouch P300, P400, beTouch E110, E400

As if we didn’t have enough handsets at which to gawk throughout Mobile World Congress, Acer has dumped a pile of Android and Windows phones onto the table. The Liquid E is a moderate refresh on the already-popular Liquid, including Android 2.1, and keeps the delicious Snapdragon processor. The E110 was a tiny, lower-end Android handset – the size (103.5 mm x 54 mm x 13.4 mm) was almost as impressive as Sony Ericsson’s X10 Mini, and will probably be a helluva lot cheaper. It’s running Android 1.6 with a few customized user interface elements, and packs 3G, a 2.8” QVGA display, 3 megapixel camera, and 1500 mAh battery.

The other beTouch handset, the E400, is a slightly bigger brother, and runs Android 2.1, 3.2” HVGA display, cruises on 3G, Wi-Fi, and GPS. All of the Android handsets host two signature widgets for handling media and bookmarks as a kind of half-wheel carrousel that hugs the edge of the screen. There’s also a neat streaming, on-demand internet radio app called Spinlets that features emerging artists.

On the Windows Mobile side, Acer has two new handsets to include in their neoTouch family. The P300 is a touchscreen slider that runs OS 6.5.3, has a 3.2” WQVGA display, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera and Flash support. Not a bad little number for the business crowd, and has nicely up-to-date version of Windows Mobile, but still fairly vanilla. The P400 is essentially a full-touch version of the P300, but cranks up the screen resolution to HVGA.

Overall, I found that Acer’s new releases were very nicely differentiated, while still leveraging common elements, like the bookmark and media home screen widgets. The bulk of them will be available this spring (March, April, May), but we don’t have any info on carriers or pricing.

Endless stream of specs after the jump…
