Fly the Wireless Skies: Alaska Airlines to Offer WiFi on All Aircraft

If you’re flying Alaska Airlines, you’ll have something to look forward to, once you finish getting through security. Sure, you can have your full-body scan, you can take off my shoes, you can even frisk me and put me in that little room where you look at me with a grin as you snap on your rubber gloves. I don’t care. When I get on that plane I’ve got WiFi coming to me baby.

All joking aside, all I’m pointing out is you’ll have a ‘pot of gold’ at the end of the rainbow once you board your plane… and the pot of gold will take the form of WiFi on all Alaska Airlines aircraft in the near future.

I love it when airlines get things like this right. Alaska Airlines will offer Aircell’s Gogo service on all aircraft. At the moment, the two sides are working to install the service on a Boeing 737-800. After installation rigorous testing will begin, in hopes of getting approval and certification from the FAA. Once certified, Alaska Airlines will start to fit all planes with the technology.

Alaska Airlines will charge a base price of $4.95 for the service. Prices will vary depending on the length of the flight and the device you’re using to connect.
