Paid Apps Coming to Canadian Android Market Next Week?

Many a Canadian has been waiting for the Android App Market to go live with Paid Apps for what seems like forever now (in reality it’s been about 9 months). The operating system is definitely picking up steam north-of-the-border, and I can attest to this by the number of device sightings I make around town every day. Android is growing and this next little tidbit of information will undoubtedly help the platform grow even more.

Word has come to us via a report at the Montreal Gazette that Google may be making a paid app announcement for the Canadian market next week. Finally, paid Android apps in Canada are within sight!

Google has been taking their time over the past little while to ensure the whole purchase process runs perfect. In fact, Google Canada Spokesperson Wendy Rozeluk was quoted as saying:

“There are many factors that come into play to make sure the selling and purchasing processes run smoothly. It takes time to bring support to more countries, which is something we are working hard to do”.

I’m sure they’ll get it right. Can’t wait for the announcement next week. Let’s just cross our fingers and hope it does indeed happen. If it doesn’t, I think we’ll hear more about paid apps in the Canadian Market real soon.
