And the first mobile operator that announced the HTC Wildfire is… (drums please)… Virgin Mobile UK. The Richard Branson-owned MVNO will start offering the mid-range Android smartphone at some point in the third quarter of the year. Price was not unveiled, though, but always highly informed Mobile-Review believes the Wildfire will be offered for about 250 EUR.
Specs wise, as you probably know we’re talking about an all-touchscreen device with QVGA display, HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, Qualcomm’s 528MHz processor, 3.5mm headset jack and a microSD memory card slot. HTC’s very own Sense UI is running the show on top of Android 2.1, providing users with quick access to key phone functions as well as popular social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.
Finally, since the Wildfire will be quite an affordable smartphone, we’ve no doubts HTC plans to move quite a few units. Moreover, I would expect to see other carriers jumping on board in no time…
