The New York City-based QderoPateo launched a new augmented reality, social networking application for the iPhone 3GS (and I guess the iPhone 4) called WorldLenns. Touted by MobileMarketingWatch as “Foursquare on steroids,” it allows users to “tag the world.” As you walk around the city, event or wherever you happen to be, start WorldLenns and leave your two cents about that place. Don’t want to write – feel free to leave a photo!
Then, once other app users are around they’ll see someone has left a note/photo which they can read and/or leave their own comment or photo. And this is how users connect via WorldLenns.
This process of tagging, QderoPateo calls space SpaceTagging which creates a user-generated content database that is accessible for the other users. The content can be filtered by channel and by a radius distance of a specific location.
Finally, and this is how the company plans to make some money. In addition to the end-user features, WorldLenns also provides opportunities for consumer brands, sponsors, artists and entertainers.
