The AmpliTube iRig for iPhone that was announced last month is now available, allowing guitarists to sound going out to their amp from their instrument. There’s a whole lot you can do with it, and allows for in-app purchases to expand your sonic range, or simply buy medium or full versions from the get-go.
- Real time guitar and bass mobile multi-FX app
- Full rig made from 3 simultaneous stompboxes + amp + cabinet + mic
- 10 Stomps, 5 Amps, 5 Cabinets, 2 Mics available
- Import and play along with songs and backing tracks with real time effects
- 36 presets can be saved/recalled on the fly
- Includes tuner/metronome
- Free, LE and Full versions available
- Free and LE versions expandable with a-la-carte downloadable gear
If you’re looking for an alternative, AgilePartners just announced a similar solution called AmpKit that is now available for preorder, and will host the same kind of in-app purchases and be around the same price point. I’m no musician, so won’t dare to compare ’em. Download links for the free and premium versions of iRig app is below, but to really work, you’ll need to order the special 3.5mm adapter for $39.99.
