Yesterday we saw the iOS 4 officially hit the iPhone 3G, 3GS and the iPod touch and folks got to downloading with the quickness. Actually, some users reported that it took several hours to update their iPhone 3G handsets, which is understandably annoying. What’s worse is that they didn’t get all the goodies that the 3GS got, such as wallpapers and multitasking. Why?
Steve Jobs told a frustrated user, “The icon animation with backgrounds didn’t perform well enough.” Short, simple, sweet and to the point. Basically, the iPhone 3G is just underpowered and can’t handle some of the new iOS 4 features.
If you spent all that time updating your iPhone 3G and didn’t get the updates you wanted, we feel your pain. Look on the bright side, if you didn’t buy one of those things recently you’re likely eligible for an upgrade to iPhone 4, right?
