The overwhelming demand for the Apple iPhone 4 means one thing: be prepared for long lines.
Around the country, millions of Apple fanatics are queuing up to get their shiny, new handset. Many of these people were able to get through the preorder chaos and wanted to pick up their handsets at the store. If I ordered one, I would have opted for the delivery option (some even got their handset early).
For those not able to preorder an iPhone, lining up is the only way to secure your unit. We know that AT&T has already sold out of its preorder allotment and third-party retailers like Best Buy and Wal-Mart were looking at short supplies. It appears that lining up for a few hours (or a day or two) would be the only way to get a new Apple smartphone on launch day.
The IntoMobile team lined up for nearly 24 hours to get one and the live stream was full of interesting characters. It all paid off though, as you can check out the handset in all its glory in our unboxing video.
I had a chance to speak with the dude who was first in line at the San Francisco Apple store and he was waiting for at least 72 hours. A long-time BlackBerry user, Chris Bank decided the multitasking and redesigned form factor were enough to get him to camp out. He was also selling a spot next to him in line and I’m sure he got at least $300 for that spot.
How about you readers? Did you wait in line? Are you in line right now checking out the redesigned IntoMobile? Share you stories in the comments and check out the iPhone 4 line videos below.

It’s not just the United States, as they’re going crazy for the iPhone 4 in Japan too.
