New from the folks at Purple Forge comes the aptly named ‘Canada Day‘ app. This app is the ultimate guide to help you or ANYONE in the Ottawa area get the most out of the Canada Day celebrations.
When you pop it open, you’ll notice a main menu full of event listings, photos, artist showtimes, videos, heck there’s even twitter and facebook integration. A maps section even gives you a look into the heart of downtown Ottawa to let you know which streets are closed, and when.
Bottom line, this app gives you the goods’ on what is going on in Ottawa today. If you’re in or around the nations capital, and pack an iPhone, this is one must have. True, it’s a bit of a shame that the app was built for folks in the Ottawa area only, but still… even if you’re located somewhere far away from Parliament Hill, it’s kind of cool to check out what’s going on, and what to expect. In fact, you may want to reference it to see what is going on and when, that is, if you’ve got the celebrations tuned-in on CBC.
HAPPY CANADA DAY everyone! Have a beer, and keep your stick on the ice.

Side Note: If you pop open iTunes, you may have also noticed the ‘Canada Day Celebration’ Apple is running. They’ve got 88 complete albums from your favorite Canadian artists for $8 or less. Kinda cool. Check it out right here (iTunes link).
Yet another note: If you’re busy celebrating Canada Day out-and-about, I’d love to hear how you’re using your mobile device to make the most of your day. Are there certain apps or services you’d recommend to others today? Tell me about them in the comments before Canada Day celebrations are over!
