While we all wait for the wide mobile TV adoption smart companies like MobiTV are laughing their way to the bank. As a matter of fact, the company announced that its iPhone app has surpassed one million downloads in the AppStore. In other words, one out of every 308 Americans has now downloaded the MobiTV for iPhone application, which is currently number two on Apple’s Top Grossing app list.
According to the MobiTV’s press release, they have 2010 World Cup in South Africa to thank for the increase in downloads:
- 47% increase in downloads since beginning of World Cup
- 250% increase in paid subscriptions since beginning of World Cup
- Average session length has been doubled to 30 minutes
- More than 12% of people purchased premium upgrade
