Just as we predicted, Verizon Wireless is adding the Samsung Intensity II u460, the phone that’s made for those folks who cannot afford a more expensive smartphone, but still want a device for texting.
Specs wise, there’s a 2.2-inch QVGA display, side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, 1.3-megapixel camera with “night vision” (not sure how that works), GPS, media player, Bluetooth connectivity support and a microSD memory card slot. In addition, the Intensity II comes pre-loaded with an IM client and Social Beat which keeps you connected to your buddies on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
What’s also interesting about the phone is that its battery cover is 35% made out of recycled plastic, which apparently has been extracted from watter bottles. Now that I’m thinking, I’m not sure I’ve heard of a better use of watter bottles. Moreover, the packaging is partially made from recycled paper and (again partially) printed with soy ink.
