Again and again I get impressed with large figures coming out from China. The world’s most populous country had 805.35 million phone users at the end of June, growing 1.19% on month and 15.85% on year! All those users sent a total of 68.92 billion short messages, which is about 2.87 messages per phone number daily.
The best part — at least when it comes to China’s mobile operators (and their shareholders) — is that there’s still plenty of room for growth. The total penetration rate is 60.5%!
As for the fixed-line services, there were 304.92 million users in June, representing a user density of just 22.9%.
In a nutshell, China will keep growing like crazy in the years to come, especially as it tries to get folks from rural parts of the country to embrace the mobile technology…
