Fotopedia Heritage has teamed up with UNESCO World Heritage Centre to bring together 20,000 photos, illustrating all World Heritage Sites and 3,000 points of interests, in a single application for the iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad.
The free to download app is touted as a “new way to experience Fotopedia,” which as you may know is the collaborative photo encyclopedia. The team led by Jean-Marie Hullot (former CTO of NeXT and Apple’s application division) built the application while the Fotopedia community added and curated the photos.
According to Jean-Marie Hullot, Fotopedia Heritage “reinvents the coffee table book experience,” packing more photos than a book can hold. Moreover, there are rich and useful web information from UNESCO, Wikipedia and even TripAdvisor for those planning a trip to one of the World Heritage Sites.
In a nutshell, we’re talking about an app every iDevice owner could (or should) have installed on its beloved phone (or tablet). It’s free, after all. The AppStore link is below…
