In honor of my 24th day and 100th post, I thought I would take the time to formally introduce myself. While some of you may recognize me from my previous writing gig, many of you may not and I would be amiss to not fill you in. Curious to learn more about the newest editor to join IntoMobile? Then read on to find out more about me and where I came from.
Who is Kelly Hodgkins?
I have been involved in the mobile field since its early days; my first phone of any significance was a Motorola Startac ST7760 which I owned for about a year until it was stolen. In those intervening years, I have enjoyed using smartphones and feature phones from a wide variety of platforms and manufacturers. The list is too numerous to count at this point.
I have used Windows Mobile and Palm OS phones/PDAs for a long time and have some (misplaced?) nostalgia for those now dying platforms. Currently, my main phone is a DROID X but I switch to a Palm Pre Plus or an enV 3, depending upon my needs or my mood. I also have an iPhone 4 at my disposal but for various reasons, I do not use it as a primary phone. I don’t often stick with a phone for very long and enjoying switching to something new on a regular basis. It’s an addiction and one I fully embrace.
Despite this diversity and willingness to try something new, I still have my favorites and my current interests lie in Android, webOS, and Windows Phone. I am also hooked on tablets and have owned dozens of different models since the Apple Newton. With the iPad and the ensuing crop of tablets slated to launch, I am excited to finally see that hardware platform take flight. Though I may jump out of my comfort zone and write about BlackBerry from time to time, most of my coverage will be on these aforementioned platforms.
I enjoy talking tech and can be found on twitter (@kellyhodgkins) and here within the IntoMobile community. Feel free to hit me up with any questions, comments, or conversations regarding mobile technology. I can’t get enough of it!
Where did I come from?
Prior to my current gig at IntoMobile, I had a first life as a Doctoral candidate in the field of Microbiology, a second life as a multimedia developer using Macromedia Director and Adobe Flash, and a third life as a mobile blogger where I have spent the past two years covering the field of mobile technology, first at BGR and now at IntoMobile. Geographically, I am a lifelong New Englander now living in rural Maine with my husband and children.
