Using iTunes to get your multimedia content on your Apple iPhone isn’t tough at all but sometimes you run into storage issues, or you just want to stream a single song without having to plug it in. That’s where Libox comes in as the company allows you to stream your content across multiple devices include the iPhone with a new app.
The Libox app for the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad lets you sync or share videos, photos and music once you have installed the desktop client. It will automatically sync when there are changes to your desktop library and it even allows you to share HD videos on the go. It’s a free program and Libox said there’s no limit to the amount of content you can use.
“I started Libox based on my own needs as a gadget geek, but my mission is to challenge the status quo for all media fans everywhere. We all know that we should be able enjoy our full HD media collection in a better way — and that current options fall short both in price and convenience. After more than two years of development, we are ready for users to kick the tires and let us know what they think of Libox,” said Erez Pilosof, founder and CEO, in a prepared statement.
It’s a solid Apple iPhone app but you have to wonder how big the market for these third-party media services will be once Apple finally introduces its iTunes streaming service. Heck, we could even see this as soon as next week when Apple shows off the next line of iPods at a media event Sept. 1.
It’s not just Apple that’s looking at bridging the gap between content on multiple devices, as Google is also working on solutions for Android. The lack of a native multimedia syncing client has long been a pain with Android but future versions will enable users to stream music from their home collection.
