HootSuite has been running a private beta of its BlackBerry Twitter client for a little over a month, and they’re now willing to give us a quick glimpse at what they’re working on. It’s pretty simple and bare bones as you can see, especially compared to their Android and iPhone apps, but enterprise-grade functions, like multiple account support and metrics viewing all seem to be there. As an enterprise device, BlackBerry’s a good fit for HootSuite; hopefully there will be lots of good use of push and web/local syncing.
HootSuite’s main competition in web-based Twitter clients, Seesmic, has been on BlackBerry for awhile now, and might have a bit of a lead in development, but HootSuite will no doubt put up a good fight, especially when the official Twitter application still doesn’t support geolocated tweets or multiple accounts. There’s also a new player called Blaq, made by folks with some solid experience in the BlackBerry world – I’m definitely looking forward to see what they have to offer versus established Twitter clients like UberTwitter and SocialScope.
