Ambient Insight: US mobile learning revenues to reach $1.4 billion by 2014

Demand for mobile learning apps and services is growing in the U.S. by a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.3%, with revenues set to reach $1.4 billion by 2014, according to a new report by Ambient Insight. Last year, the U.S. overtook Japan to and is now the top m-Learning market in the world with 2009 revenues at $632 million.

At the moment, consumers and healthcare buyers are driving the US mobile learning market and they have increased spending on m-Learning even at the height of the recession. mHealth is an especially important trend that is expected to further drive the market forward.

Commenting on the findings, Ambient Insight’s Chief Research Officer, Sam S. Adkins, said: “New suppliers are entering the market at a steady pace. A very new trend is the emergence of dozens of new native mLearning tools and platforms that were built from the ground up to develop and manage Mobile Learning. It is also interesting that three new types of packaged content emerged in 2009 and 2010.”
