Yesterday we told you that if you signed up for the Angry Birds beta for Android, you’d receive it on Friday. Well, it looks like the amount of sign ups for the hit game was so massive that Rovio has decided to throw it into the Android Market on Friday instead of send it to those who have signed up.
In an e-mail sent to TalkAndroid, here’s what Rovio had to say about the regarding the release:
This week, we were planning to run a closed beta test of Angry Birds Lite for Android. Due to the massive response and demand from the Android community, we have decided to make Angry Birds Lite Beta available for everybody through the Android Market this Friday.
Please note that this will be the beta version of the application which is still undergoing final testing before official release. Angry Birds Lite Beta is presented on an “as is” basis, and we cannot guarantee its functionality on every Android device.
Angry Birds Lite Beta will run on second generation Android devices and upwards …
Since the demand is so great, Rovio will be unleashing the beta of the game this Friday, available to all users who have at least a 2nd generation device with Google’s mobile software. So, if you’d like to get your game on, or if you just have an extreme distaste for pigs, Google OS users will soon have the game available to them in two days. This is not a final build, and you may experience a hiccup or two when playing, but this will likely be fixed as soon as possible.
For those of you who have yet to play the game, you’re in for a surprise. I’m not much of a mobile gamer myself, but I’ve been glued to the game since I downloaded it on an iPod touch yesterday. Google’s mobile OS users are finally getting the smallest of taste of what iOS devices have had for a while now. That said, the little, green robot still has a lot of catching up to do.
