After several false starts, iTunes 10 has finally made its debut on Apple’s website and is now available for your downloading pleasure. iTunes 10 will bring with it Apple’s newly announced music-oriented social network, Ping, and several minor enhancements to the UI designed to improve organization and assist in the viewing of your media library.
Good news! If you are a jailbreaker or an unlocker, you can safely install iTunes 10. According to MuscleNerd of the iPhone dev team, “DFU mode, syncing, selecting IPSW are all okay”. While this latest version of iTunes will not impede the usage of your device, watch out for the upcoming iOS 4.1 update slated to drop next week as it may not be so hacker-friendly. As always, if you want to keep your jailbreak or unlock intact, wait for the iPhone dev team to peruse the update and determine its effect on your iPhone or iPod Touch before saying “yes” to the installation.
