After the Amsterdam, Orange is launching another city-named device – San Francisco. I’m not sure I dig the idea of using city names for phones, but what do I know…
Anyway, the San Francisco is an entry-level Android smartphone, with hardware that’s pretty much identical to the ZTE Blade. In other words, specs include a 3-megapixel camera, 3G and WiFi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack, 150 MB of internal memory that’s further expandable with microSD cards. Android 2.1 is running the show, and there’s also Orange Maps app pre-installed providing users with turn-by-turn navigation. As for the size, the device measures 116×56.5×11.8 mm and has a weight of 130 grams.
Release date was set for the end of third quarter, meaning it should start selling anytime soon. Orange offers mobile services in quite a few places around the world and at this point we don’t know which markets will get the San Francisco nor how much it will cost…
