SocialSmack’s reviews platform goes iPhone, Android

SocialSmack, which is a web-based reviews platform that brings together consumers and brands, is going for the Android and iPhone users, allowing them [users] to rate and rant on products while on the go. Instead of star-based voting, users either “prop” or “drop” some product or service, and can also include a short explanation why they voted as such.

As a consumer, you access SocialSmack to get real-time information on various products, services and brands, and eventually make smarter purchasing decisions. Brands on their end can use SocialSmack as a subscription-based service to gain insight into consumer sentiment and trends data, and engage with consumers…

In a nutshell, you could think of SocialSmack as Digg for brands where instead of posting and commenting on news items, users talk about stuff/brands they buy.

At the moment I’m writing this, I couldn’t find SocialSmack’s iPhone app in iTunes and I haven’t checked out the Android Market. It should be available for download from both app stores during the next couple of days, though…
