We haven’t even seen the handset officially launched and already we’re seeing ports of the Desire HD ROM on other devices. It started with the HD2, but now it’s got two more phones under its belt, the Droid Incredible and the original Desire.
While Droid Incredible and Desire will still likely get the updated Sense UI sometime down the road, it’s always nicer to have that latest features before they are rolled out to the masses. Not only will you get the newest version of the sexy Sense UI, you’ll also be able to take advantage of the new fast boot that HTC has done for their DHD and Z. It takes maybe a whole three seconds from off to ready for action, and that’s freakishly impressive.
We got some hands on with the Desire HD, and we were left very impressed. HTC put a lot of thought in their Sense UI update and it hosts a boat load of features that make your life just that much easier. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ROM made its way to other devices shortly, and I’d bet the Nexus One will be on the list.
Not only will this ROM give you the three-second boot time, but you’ll also have access to multiple themes. HTC applications now support landscape orientation, and they have implemented the Leap feature into the browser, allowing access to all open windows in the web browser in a pinch. We’re not too sure about the stability of the ROM at the moment, but I wouldn’t think this is the final version. Right now, the camera/camcorder is not working, and BlueTooth isn’t connecting, but these will likely be ironed out soon in future updates.
So if you’re sporting a Droid Incredible or Desire, are you going to give this ROM a try?
