Multiple iPhone Ringtone Apps Hit iTunes Store

If you bemoaned the day that making custom iPhone ringtones in iTunes disappeared, this news will be gold to you. Ever since Apple became more transparent with its App Store approval process, a number of applications hit that market that otherwise probably never would have made it. The first that comes to mind are the Google Voice apps that recently became available. And now, there are custom ringtone applications, or applications that allow you to create ringtones for your iPhone.

How have things changed since the approval guidelines have been published? Our friends at MobileCrunch say:

Since the early days of the App Store, applications that allow users to make ringtones from songs on their handsets have either inexplicably sat on hold or were outright denied. And yet, here we are; as of right now, there are no less than 5 different ringtone making apps sitting in the App Store.

The only real issue now is which one of the five different ringtone apps you’ll choose.

With the previously denied apps, or types of applications, now making their way into the iTunes store, perhaps Apple critics might start easing up on the iPhone maker. Then again, I wouldn’t hold my breath. It is pretty refreshing to see some of these apps hitting the iTunes store, however, as rejections of these apps were making headlines around this time last year.

While there were always many other ways of making custom ringtones for the iPhone, most of them were just way too much work on the user’s part. Or they didn’t care to try to look to see if it can be done. Either way, you can now choose between a number of applications to cut and edit that Taio Cruz tune onto your Apple handset, and most of them won’t set you back for more than the price of a small coffee.
