Fifth Third Processing Solutions teams up with Bling Nation to bring mobile payments to the U.S. financial institutions

Payment solutions provider Fifth Third Processing Solutions is teaming-up with mobile payments experts Bling Nation to allow virtually any financial institution that is part of the Fifth Third Processing Solutions network to enable the Bling services for their financial institutions’ debit card customers.

The main idea is to provide clients of Fifth Third Processing Solutions with a tool for differentiation – Bling Nation-powered social mobile payments that work with any mobile phone and any carrier.

Financial institutions can plug into the platform and access Bling Nation’s community of businesses, which distribute Bling Nation’s proprietary micro-chip BlingTags to their best customers who can then link those tags to their debit cards. Best of all, security risks are reduced as BlingTags store no personal information…

During my recent visit to the San Francisco Bay area I’ve seen BlingTags in action and I must say I love it. Sure, an NFC-enabled device would eliminate the need for any tag from being attached to your phone, but while we’re waiting for that happen, BlingTags is a great way to go.
