It’s CTIA time as you know, and Swype is using the event to share some cool figures with the media. 2010 was a successful year for the company and their text input technology for the touchscreen smartphones. Here’s what they got:
- 20 Swype-enable devices launched or announced across 50 countries including such popular models as the Samsung Galaxy S, Motorola Droid and HTC’s T-Mobile G2
- Expanded device portfolio to tablets premiering with the Samsung Galaxy Tab
- Swype was preloaded on 8 out of the last 12 Android device launches in the US
- Support for over 40 languages including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Malay, Russian, Finnish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Swedish, Serbian, Czech, Greek, Polish, Indonesian, Norwegian, Icelandic, Chinese, Japanese and Turkish among others
- $6.6 million raised to date from Nokia Growth Partners, Samsung Ventures and DOCOMO Capital, with 2% of the company set aside to fund disability research
Finally, Swype reminded us about that “World Record” set for the fastest text message on a touchscreen mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy S).
