When it comes to air travel these days, things are changing. We’re starting to see cell phones cleared for use, in-seat live television is becoming more and more of a reality… and other ‘luxuries’ are sure to come. Case in point today comes to us from Qantas Airways in Australia. They have plans to offer the Apple iPad to passengers on their Jetstar flights. Very cool!
A Qantas Jetstar spokesman commented on the news during an interview earlier today:
“We’re in the final stages of putting in place what would be a broader roll out across the network…We’re in ongoing discussion with the manufacturer around a more integrated network proposition.”
No details have been released yet as to how the iPad offering would be setup. Would they be mounted in the headrest? Or perhaps the flight attendants would offer them to the passengers? I’m not sure. I suppose those are the details Qantas is working out at the moment.
While integration is unclear, I am personally VERY clear on the fact that an iPad on a plane IS a good idea. I’ve traveled with mine a few times since I bought the darn thing… and it sure makes the time ‘fly’ by.
Good on Qantas, I can’t wait to hear customer reaction once the iPads are up for offer on their Jetstar flights.
Stay tuned for more!
