Loopt’s location-based social networking app for iPhone has recently updated with Facebook connectivity, letting you update where you are using Facebook Places. Users can now see where their Facebook friends have checked-in on the app’s map, as well as see those contacts on the same list as their Loopt friends.
The network has its own check-in system, so butts heads pretty directly with Foursquare, but the map interface is definitely nicer to browse than Foursquare’s tired list view. There are also associated products made by Loopt geared towards dating and getting points for prizes, which captures the other popular aspects of this burgeoning class of check-in apps. Loopt shares your location with trusted friends, but also lets you check reviews and other associated media pulled in from Zagat, Bing, Citysearch, and other sources.
It seems like the app still doesn’t work in Canada for some reason, which is too bad because it would be a richer than using Google Latitude to share my location with friends.
If you’re not shy about sharing your location, you can find Loopt in the App Store at the link below, check out this video, or peruse the features here.
