One of the largest poker operations in the world, Full Tilt Poker, is looking to make a splash with a dive into the Android pool. That’s right, rumor has it Full Tilt is putting together an application for Android, featuring their new ‘Rush Poker’ gameplay. Interesting.
Apparently much testing of the app has been going on over the past few weeks, and the company is even expanding the test audience to ensure the app is up to grade.
Full Tilt Poker for Android could be out within the next few weeks, so I’ll be sure to keep an eye open for it. Should be very interesting to see what features and gameplay are built-in… and while I’m not sure of the exact legalities of such a thing, if you can throw down and gamble for real money… this could be quite a big deal.
As a bit of an aside, my group of poker buddies (10 of us) play on a semi-regular basis. At the table there is without fail a mix of iPhone and BlackBerry action. No Android to be found. I wonder if that’ll change once the table catches wind of this? Would anyone switch up their device based upon the availability of one poker app? Surely only the most hardcore of hardcore poker players would switch their mobile device based on Full Tilt coming to the table? Or am I underestimating the importance of this on the mobile scene?
Whatever the case, don’t expect Full Tilt to pop into the App Store anytime soon. Apple has long had a policy to frown upon anything adult (sexy times) or gambling (lose your money) oriented. While Full Tilt may prove to be your first chance to get your gambling fix while out-and-about, don’t expect iOS to be involved.
