Amazon wants to make it easier for you to spend your cash from your iPad and the company has released a new shopping app called Windowshop.
Amazon already had an app for the Apple iPad but it wasn’t really optimized for the big beautiful screen. It was essentially just the iPhone app with a few new bells and whistles.
You can really tell that the company took its time with the Amazon Windowshop iPad app, as it does look pretty nice. There’s all the features you’d expect from an app of this class, including video previews, flick to scroll and audio samples. It also works with your Amazon Prime accounts and transactions are secure.
For the online retailing giant, this is just its latest step into the mobile pool. It has good reason to develop good apps because it has already seen more than $1 billion in sales through mobile devices. We can expect that number to grow tremendously over the next few years.
I know Amazon has received a lot of my money through its mobile apps, as I barely even think about it. For instance, I was annoyed at how difficult it was for me to find a pair of matching socks in my drawer so I just whipped out my Samsung Fascinate on the way to work, chose my size and bought some fresh new socks. Because I’m a Prime member, I can expect those by Wednesday.
Look for the company to make a bigger splash in the mobile space, as Amazon plans to make big bets on the Android operating system. Look for the company to soon have its own Android app store and we may even see a tablet to truly take advantage of this.
You can be sure both of those will be able to easily order merchandise from the online retailer.
