It looks like MeeGo has itself a promising future as Nokia is backing the platform, and now it seems Sprint is lending a hand, too. The carrier said that it will support MeeGo and the mobile operating system in its future devices. From what we’ve seen so far, the OS looks very clean, intuitive and that is promising. With former Palm designer Peter Skillman at the helm, we’re really looking forward to the platform when it finally hits.
According to Electronista:
The carrier said it would help speed development of services and apps for many devices, including in-vehicle systems. The open-source nature of MeeGo was a key ingredient, Sprint believed.
A few MeeGo devices may be seen as early as the end of the year, with a good chunk making appearances in early 2011. Hopefully we’ll also be seeing some WiMax-capable MeeGo devices soon.
In the meantime, check out a video demo of MeeGo here.
