While we’re still waiting on Google to come up with an online Android Market – which will eventually happen – some sites are already beating the search giant to it. Androidzoom is one such site and it will allow you to search and send links to install apps from your computer to your phone.
The Androidzoom site is straight forward and to the point. A bar on the left shows the application categories, so you can easily filter what you’d like to see.
To install an application, just click on the link of the app you’d like, and it will give you different options to install it. Some may actually find it easier to just search from the Android Market itself, which is an option the site suggests, but it also allows you to scan the app’s QR code, or have the app link sent to your email address.
Sites like this are nice because you can search for apps from the Internet, but at the same time, it is just a workaround for the Android Market. Even AppBrain, which has its own app along with search-able website, still directs you to the official Market link when you want to install the application.
I doubt many of these sites will be around once Google launches the Android Market online and points users to its Chrome to Phone feature – this will allow you to sign into the Market site, click install and literally have the app begin downloading and installing without having to go to the Market on the phone. We got a preview of this feature at the Google I/O earlier this year and it will certainly be a hit.
For now though, sites like Androidzoom will be able to help users find the apps they want quickly, even if you get redirected to the Market when all is said and done. It’s really the best thing we have right now, so if you’re looking for some online Android Market action, hit up Androidzoom and see how you like it.
If you’ve used Androidzoom or AppBrain, which do you prefer?
