Online backup service Carbonite launched a beta version of its Carbonite Access application for the Android platform, allowing users to quickly and easily access (view and open) all of their files while on the go. Moreover, Carbonite subscribers can also share their backed up files via email, Facebook, Picasa and other social networks. And if you’re accessing music files, you can also listen to them, though I’m not sure whether we’re talking about streaming here.
In order to be able to use Carbonite Access, a smartphone running Android 1.6 or higher is required, which means pretty much any smartphone running Google’s mobile OS will work just fine. The only question here is – are you using Carbonite to backup your files and do you want to be able to access them [files] from your mobile phone.
Supporting Android is only the latest step in Carbonite’s mobile initiative – they already have mobile clients for iOS and BlackBerry devices, which are available from Apple’s AppStore and RIM’s BlackBerry AppWorld, respectively…
