Read any publication covering the technology industry and the you’ll start thinking that the virtues of living an always on, always connected lifestyle, with the latest 600 Euro smartphone in your pocket are mandatory in order to function as a member of society in the 21st century. For many however, that simply isn’t the case. They want their phones to be phones, and not much else. For several of those people refusing to upgrade to our shared thumb sore causing addiction, they also want their device to have a sense of style. Phone manufactures for a long time have made these “easy to use” devices cheap, and with a low price tag comes old technology and terrible build quality. Sony Ericsson tried to change this with their Xperia Pureness. It featured a 1.8 inch screen that was see through. Unfortunately said screen could only display one color.
Lenovo is taking the Pureness concept and kicking it up a notch by revealing the S800. There isn’t much we know about this device, other than the fact the screen is capable of displaying more than one color. Unlike the Pureness, it features a white body, something Apple has a bit of a rough time delivering. Price? No idea, and that’s going to make or break this thing since the Pureness ended up costing more than the iPhone. Release date? Nope, we don’t know that either, but since Chinese New Year is a little more than 2 months away, we reckon that Lenovo is trying hard to get this puppy out on the market by then.
What say you, are you interested in such a device? I’m longing for a feature phone that doesn’t feel or look cheap, but at the same time can act as a WiFi hotspot so I can carry either a tablet or iPod touch with me whenever I feel like doing web browsing on the go.
