Two men have been arrested on suspicion of trying to enter US military bases in Oahu, Hawaii. No the two are neither terrorists nor Wikileaks volunteers (as far as we know), but T-Mobile USA contractors who were just trying to fine-tune the carrier’s HSPA network.
Their foolishness comes from the fact they wanted to enter a military base without authority, and have been detained at a gate at the Aliamanu Military Reservation. Moreover, the officials have shut down several roads around the gate for several hours while investigating a vehicle the men were seen driving for possible explosives.
T-Mobile commented in a statement: “T-Mobile hired a vendor to help with the fine tuning of our [HSPA] network. We requested that our vendor not enter any military bases. We are discussing this with our vendor, and we apologize for any concern this may have caused. T-Mobile respects the procedures of all of our military bases and we regret this unfortunate incident.”
So what’s the moral of the story? You better do your paperwork before trying to enter a military base. If they only had a CD with Lady Gaga label, things could’ve turned out different… 😉
