MetroPCS is adding the Huawei Ascend to its line-up of phones for a pretty affordable price given the usual cost of smartphones for pre-paid carriers. The Android 2.1 device will set you back just $179, which isn’t half bad, with smartphone plans that start at just $50 per month. And best of all, as is expected from the smaller pre-paid carrier, there are no contracts involved.
The Huawei Ascend has a 3.5-inch HVGA touch screen display, a 3.2MP camera that shoots stills and video, Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth capabilities as well. It’s an inexpensive Android handset as far as Android smartphones go, but it’s not a bad deal for the price you’re getting without long-term commitments. And it’s also about time the pre-paid carrier added the Huawei Ascend to its line-up after Cricket picked it up a few months ago.
