Nexus S supplies at Best Buy revealed (unconfirmed)

Wondering if your Best Buy will have enough Nexus S inventory when it launches the new generation of Google Nexus superphones this Thursday? AndroidAndMe has posted some numbers for the number of Nexus S phones that each Best Buy will get according to the store size. The numbers are unconfirmed, but these figures are all we have to go on at this point.

According to the rumor, Best Buy stores around the country will stock Nexus S units like this:

  • Big box Best Buy locations that sell T-Mobile contracts in store will have on average 35 units Thursday
  • Big box Best Buy locations that do not sell T-Mobile contracts will have on average 4 units Thursday
  • Best Buy Mobile locations that sell T-Mobile will have on average 72 units Thursday
  • Best Buy Mobile locations that do not sell T-Mobile, will have on average 4 units Thursday
  • There will be plenty of transferring product around from Best Buy to Best Buy to even out counts as needed, but these are the numbers shipping to stores
  • There will be plenty of units for orders placed online and shipped to the customer

It makes sense that Best Buy stores that don’t sell T-Mobile services will have less units than those that do, so be sure to check ahead of time. If you don’t want to take your chances at a store, then make sure you’re ready to nab one online at 8AM your local time.

The Nexus S is one nice piece of Android kit in terms of hardware, even if the handset could benefit from a few beefier features on the specification side of things. Android 2.3 Gingerbread may not have seen the major UI overhaul we were expecting, but it does bring the OS to a new level. Gingerbread shows more potential than anything, and the Nexus S will surely be first in line to receive any upcoming update to the Android OS.

So, potential Nexus S owners, what route are you choosing with your purchase? You running out to your local Best Buy, or will you try your luck online?
