InMobi’s October research findings suggest the obvious – the number of Android smartphone owners is on the rise. And it’s not just Android, overall there are more smartphones out there. Here are the highlights from InMobi’s report:

  • Smartphone impressions are now majority (56%) of US mobile ad inventory.
  • Smartphone share gains were driven mainly by the Android operating system (+8.7 share pts) with iPhone OS decreasing (-2.2 share pts).
  • The iPhone is the single most dominant device in the US, accounting for 21.9% of all US ad impressions.
  • Android devices represent five of the top 10 devices in the US mobile advertising ecosystem.
  • Modest gains were also posted by RIM OS and Symbian OS.
  • The US market has grown 25% in the past 90 days driven by smartphone inventory.

And in case you wonder, InMobi’s report is based on network research across 125 countries and six regions. You can download it [report] from this page on InMobi’s website.
