If you wondered why you need a tablet, In-Stat thinks they have an answer. According to their research, most folks — whether they already have or plan to buy a tablet — use the device for email, personal information management and multimedia consumption (audio, video and gaming).
When you think about it – you don’t need a research to figure that out. We’re talking about devices that are too big to carry in your pocket, yet large enough to allow better video playback experience. Moreover, checking out email during the day, and managing your calendar and contacts also make more sense on a larger screen (larger than the phone, that is).
Some other findings from In-Stat include:
- Worldwide tablet shipments are expected to reach over 58 million units in 2014.
- Nearly 55% of survey respondents that own tablets spend 9 hours or more using their tablet each week.
- Over 40% of future tablet purchasers plan to buy an Apple iPad.
- The strongest shipment growth begins in the latter portion of our forecast period.
