Verizon Wireless announced that no longer you need to have an iOS-powered device to keep up with NHL while on the go. The carrier — which BTW is the Official Wireless Service Provider of the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) in the United States — announced that hockey fans with BlackBerry and Android smartphones can join the game, too.

Yup, the NHL GameCenter LIVE app is no longer an iOS-exclusive title – Verizon’s smartphone users can also get to access the latest NHL games, players, scores, stats and video highlights.

The application is available in few flavors – for a $39.99 one-time fee, you to get the “ultimate NHL experience” with up to 40 out-of-market games per week live; a free version gives you live scores, in-game stats, NHL Twitter feed, full season schedule, NHL’s new mobile website, standings and bios of all active players; while $9.99 (one-time purchase) gets you access to condensed games, live game radio and video highlights…
