AT&T and Verizon are locked in for a March 11 launch of the iPad 2, but Canada isn’t far behind. Rogers has confirmed that they’ll be selling Apple’s new skinnier, faster tablet. Though they don’t mention pricing or dates, Apple did mention March 25 for international launches, and they’re selling the Wi-Fi-only 16 GB model for $499, which should give you an idea of what to expect. If you’re opting for 3G, a 5 GB/$35 plan will be available, or a 250 MB/$15 plan for those who would prefer to coast on Rogers Wi-Fi hotspots. If you’ve already got a smartphone with a decent plan, Rogers also has data sharing plans available for as low as an extra $10/month.
The iPad 2 is a third slimmer than the original, upgrades the processor to 1 GHz dual core, includes two video cameras, will be launching with a few tweaks in iOS 4.3, and has the same 9.7-inch 1024 x 768 display and 10-hour battery life. Despite only having 256 MB of RAM, the iPad 2 seems to handle speedily enough. Check out our impressions from the announcement over here.
Good on Rogers for chiming in on the iPad 2 announcement early, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Telus and Bell follow suit, even though we haven’t heard anything from them yet.
